North Staffordshire Christian Aid Sponsored Walk

Saturday 24th March 2018 at Tittesworth Reservoir near Leek

Last year the Walk raised over £50,000 for Christian Aid and remains one of its most successful annual fundraising events. Donations and promises of financial support have already been made to cover all this year’s expenses – so every penny you collect in sponsorship will go directly to Christian Aid.

Tittesworth are allowing walkers to park their vehicles for a payment of £2.50, regardless of how long we stay. (It would normally cost £4.70 to park for more than two hours). Please display the Christian Aid pass given to you on arrival.

Registration takes place from 9.15am onwards. The walk will commence at 10.00am and we ask that walkers aim to complete the course by 1.00pm. You have a choice of two routes – a short ‘easy’ walk of approximately 2 miles or a longer walk of roughly 5 miles, both of which will be clearly signposted. As usual we will have St. John Ambulance Brigade members on duty together with our own stewards and Easter eggs will be distributed to any who come in fancy dress or wear an Easter Bonnet.

If you require this information, posters or sponsorship forms please contact Michael Willmot at  or phone John Bamford 01782 516137.

Download your sponsorship form here. After obtaining as many sponsors as possible, please remember to bring your sponsor form with you on 24thMarch. We look forward to seeing you there.

We are a well established charity which tries to meet some of the needs of adults who are blind or partially sighted in the Newcastle- under- Lyme  area. Our base is The Bethel Centre in May Street, Silverdale. ST5 6NA.

The age range of the group is 37 to 97 but predominately + 80 and mainly ladies. We have a varied programme of events,eg .flower arranging, baking, crafts, with quality entertainers and speakers on a regular basis. Every month we take the members out for a meal at a local restaurant.

The average number of members attending each Friday is 20 and we are sure that this could be increased with a little advertising. However, we are reluctant to do this because we have a shortage of volunteers! Safety of the members is paramount and during the last few months we have had to close on two occasions due to an insufficient number of volunteers being available.

We are struggling on at the moment but the future does not look good unless we increase the number of volunteers.

On a normal Friday, the club starts at 10am (most of the members are brought on Newcastle Community Transport’s minibus) and finishes at 2pm. However, we are very flexible with volunteers – they could come on a rota basis; half a day and/or every two weeks, whatever suits them.

If anyone is interested or requires some more information they need to contact Elizabeth Glover – Co-ordinator on 01782 719273 (leave a message if necessary) or e-mail
